About the session
One of the biggest topics everyone is talking about is the climate crisis we're in. We live in a world where we still design and make products and services without thinking about the end of life and interdependencies of our creations, resulting in huge amounts of waste. What if we would think about the end-of-life at the beginning, and design for it then? As designers, more than ever, we need to raise to the calling of our discipline, because with great power comes great responsibility.
In this 1.5 hour workshop, we’ll explore the concept of the circular economy, and dig deeper into how service design as a discipline is well-positioned to contribute to a shift in thinking and designing services that are circular from the onset.
We’ll explore new tools and go through a couple of practical exercises so that you can understand how to start incorporating circular design into your own practice and get excited about pushing the thinking even further in the future, both with your peers and your clients!
You’ll understand more about the circular economy and hear Andrea’s own experience in designing a circular project
You’ll learn more about circular building blocks and how to use the tools in your own practice
In groups you’ll work together to re-think a traditionally linear product/service into a circular one
