Information technology company, IBM describe their values as “listening for need” in order to “lead the world in more progressive futures.” But what does this mean? How are they listening? And what kind of futures are they envisioning?
In this short interactive workshop, we will listen to data using the IBM Watson personality insights service to create, role-play and interrogate fictional personas. Questioning the ethical uses of technology by designers especially within this period of rising digital power and uncertainty. What can we gain and what are the risks of creating futures based on interpreting personal and private data?

About the speaker
Rachel Rolston is a designer interested in re-imagining how products and services can be delivered to facilitate relationships of trust. Design graduate from Goldsmiths, University of London and soon to be a Service Designer in the Department of Education Digital team.
